Every job requires mastery, especially when it entails interrelated matters that overlap with one another, such as medicine, engineering, computer systems, management, marketing, and so on.
It is extremely important that a person grasps the broader and sometimes more specific aspects of the various tracks within the specialization they belong to. One should never settle for daily tasks alone, nor the annual plan, nor the capabilities of the institution! Your command of the details and the generalities of your field, along with what is new in it and its requirements, is among the most important matters you should occupy yourself with, regardless of your level or your academic and professional standing. Whether you have reached the highest ranks or are still at the beginning of the road, you must race against time by delving deeply into your field and keeping up with it continuously.
I am utterly astonished by young people who have graduated, some of whom have been working for years, and others who have reached senior ranks and positions, yet their knowledge and expertise in their field is superficial and shallow. They have plenty of excuses, given how busy they are or the scarcity of resources and other pretexts, which sadden and astonish anyone who has a heart or who listens attentively and bears witness.
A piece of advice to some administrations: be keen on continuous and sometimes mandatory training for employees, especially those reluctant to learn and acquire skills, for this is a great trust that serves the interest of the institution and the nation, both directly and indirectly. What is harsher and more bitter is when some administrations stand in the way of training, education, and development. This indicates the presence of a flaw that needs to be corrected urgently, for skilled, competent employees are like the wings that make an aircraft fly; no matter how skilled its pilot, it will never fly without wings.
There are many institutions and officials who are keen on training and equipping employees on a regular and continuous basis, out of care for the high competencies, capabilities, and skills with which they compete at global levels. This does not come out of nowhere, but rather from determination, dedication, and persistence.
Training courses, skills, and their assessments are available through all traditional, modern, and hybrid methods, and this is a great blessing. But some managers make the mistake of focusing only on administrative courses and neglecting technical ones, on the pretext that their level has risen! This is a dangerous slope, for drifting away from such training courses gnaws strongly at your foundations, which need periodic restoration so that you can acquire and practice what is new and enrich your reservoir of knowledge.
It is an interconnected chain of human resource development, empowering and enhancing it with skills, courses, and attendance at conferences, occasions, and events that open new horizons for employees, raise the overall output of institutions, and bring renewable and sustainable ideas. Stagnant water is not fit to drink and causes deadly, lethal diseases.
