The Dawn of Robots

We have reached advanced stages in various technical fields and uses, and I refer in particular to the technologies and algorithms inspired by the human brain, the human body, and other creatures. These in-depth studies have enabled us to achieve technologies that were within the mirage of science fiction, so today we see many of these imaginings carrying out tasks with reasonably consummate skill within these stages that I consider to be on the thresholds of the artificial intelligence that we still see as distant.

The human's focus and engagement in harnessing these technologies to serve people and the environment, strengthen economies, and solve many dilemmas such as drought, agriculture, happiness, environmental pollution, and extreme poverty—all of that can be combated using these advanced technologies. All we need is to focus on development and to give attention to the accomplished thinkers, the owners of tangible, distinctive, and beautiful achievements, and to leave aside the resounding slogans that change under the simplest of circumstances and interests.

The desired uses of robots are utterly limitless, for they can work night and day without weariness or boredom. They can wash, sweep, plant, harvest, dig wells, expand and even desalinate waterways as they move from one place to another. Among their uses are home and office security guarding, as well as international border guarding, or merely welcoming visitors and receiving them with the finest reception and guiding them toward places and facilities, as we witnessed at Expo 2020 Dubai, in addition to the food and purchase delivery robots that spread at Expo 2020 Dubai as well. They had a beautiful positive impact on visitors' happiness, using advanced technologies such as voice and image recognition, following the path, being wary of collision or falling, and correcting themselves if they fall!

The robot will not be a substitute for the human, as it is an addition to people to enhance the ways of life

A thousand years ago, technology was not mentioned and there was not a single technologist! Today we see the economies of technology companies making the standing of some companies the size of nations, and they carry great weight that must be reckoned with a thousandfold.

Jobs will enter a new whirlwind with a new concept and new needs that will certainly pour into the service of economies. Some matters will become more logical, such as the existence of security robots patrolling areas night and day, working under the command of security men. These systems can now distinguish many things, from discovering any error or change, to perceiving the occurrence of an incident violating laws and regulations, and among them is what contributes to rescue, from detecting mines and recovery in accidents, and even in firefighting and raids.

As for lovers of coffee, tea, and food, robots have begun to compete with the strongest chefs and baristas, as the computer "IBM Deep Blue" did when it defeated world chess champion Garry Kasparov in 1996. Recently, robots have spread that make coffee of high quality, far better than what traditional coffee machines offer. With this pattern, the taste of coffee will be identical in every country in the world, and the matter is the same in cooking, hunting, sewing, and agriculture.

Children have gotten a share of this progress, for today there are numerous models of babysitting robots that tell them stories, teach them, play with them, console them if they are sad, and walk with them wherever they go and travel. These technologies are truly useful in developing children technically, teaching them, and training them.

What is nice is that these robots come in countless forms, sizes, and specifications. Some of them are in the shape of a human, others in the form of humans but the size of an arm and hand, and others in the shape of a dog, carrying advanced devices on its back for multiple uses, or used for entertainment and decoration. Among the common forms is one like a flying saucer, but it sweeps, cleans the house, and sterilizes it, then returns to its base to empty itself and then returns to complete its cycle until it finishes covering the smart map of the place, which it creates itself using advanced 3D LIDAR devices that recognize the surrounding area, precisely determine its location in the place, and distinguish obstacles, elevations, and steps. From the same kind is one that cuts grass and cleans pools, and they work with the same mechanism as before.

Among the examples are drone robots that form smart shows and fly chasing their owner, avoiding every barrier and distinguishing them from others by recognizing them.

We are in dire need of learning all the security vulnerabilities and being keen for these systems to be from prestigious institutions that care about information and systems security and are keen on constant updating, for the fact that some of these devices are connected to the internet makes it possible to hack them and make them carry out embarrassing matters that may be dangerous—actually or symbolically, nationally and doctrinally.

There are many courses to learn the programming and control of robots, and even their creation, and it is very necessary to learn them, teach them to our children, and prepare a generation that adopts technology in all of its life regardless of its specialization—whether a teacher, doctor, writer, athlete, engineer, builder, or other professions and specializations.

There is no doubt that the dawn of robots and their entry into markets and businesses has a positive impact on the economy, and the astute one is he who exploits supply and demand to offer what is useful and beneficial to everyone, God willing, and everyone benefits, God willing.
